For when the room feels familiar and you don't.
Some evenings the apartment still looks like the right place, but the person standing in it feels like a substitute. The keys fit. The light switch is where you left it. Even the plants have stayed polite about everything they have witnessed.
It is not that you want to leave. It is that you have not yet found the version of yourself the room is quietly waiting for. That lag between who you are and where you are can last longer than anyone warns you about.
So let tonight be the shift you don't announce. Drink the water. Look at the wall long enough that the wall becomes interesting again. The new you does not have to arrive with a suitcase. Sometimes she just walks in from the kitchen, already wearing your face. 🌙
